Traffic signals are legally binding light signals that signal vehicles and pedestrians to proceed or stop on roads. They are primarily categorized as signal lights, lane lights, and crosswalk lights. Signal lights are devices that display traffic signals using a sequence of red, yellow, and green lights. Countries around the world have clearly defined and largely similar regulations for the meaning of the various colors in signal lights. Signal light unit dimensions are available in three sizes: 200mm, 300mm, and 400mm.
The diameters of the mounting holes for red and green signal light units on the signal housing are 200mm, 290mm, and 390mm, respectively, with a tolerance of ±2mm.
For non-patterned signal lights, the light-emitting surface diameters of the 200mm, 300mm, and 400mm sizes are 185mm, 275mm, and 365mm, respectively, with a tolerance of ±2mm. For signal lights with patterns, the diameters of the circumscribed circles of the light-emitting surfaces of the three specifications of Φ200mm, Φ300mm, and Φ400mm are Φ185mm, Φ275mm, and Φ365mm, respectively, and the size tolerance is ±2mm.

Next, the installation heights of various types of signal lights are introduced.
1. Intersection lights:
The height should be at least 3 meters.
2. Pedestrian crossing lights:
Install at a height of 2m to 2.5m.
3. Lane lights:
(1) The installation height is 5.5m to 7m;
(2) When installed on an overpass, it must not be significantly lower than the clearance of the bridge.
4. Non-motorized vehicle lane signal lights:
(1) The installation height is 2.5m ~ 3m. If the non-motorized vehicle signal light pole is cantilevered, it shall comply with the national requirements of 7.4.2;
(2) The length of the cantilever part of the non-motorized vehicle signal light should ensure that the non-motorized vehicle signal light system is located above the non-motorized vehicle target lane.
5. Vehicle lights, direction indicators, flashing warning lights and crossing lights:
(1) Traffic safety signboard manufacturers can use the maximum cantilever installation height of 5.5m to 7m;
(2) When using column installation, the height should not be less than 3m;
(3) When installed on the bridge body of an overpass, it must not be lower than the bridge body clearance;
(4) The maximum length of the cantilever part should not exceed the innermost lane management center, and the minimum length should not be less than the outermost lane control center.
