Things to note when passing through LED traffic signals

Hello, fellow drivers! As a traffic light company, Qixiang would like to discuss the precautions you should take when encountering LED traffic signals while driving. The seemingly simple red, yellow, and green lights hold numerous key elements that ensure road safety. Mastering these key points will make your journey smoother and safer.

Green signal light

Green Signal Light

A green light is a signal to allow passage. According to the Regulations for the Implementation of the Traffic Safety Law, when a green light is on, vehicles and pedestrians are permitted to pass. However, turning vehicles must not obstruct vehicles or pedestrians traveling straight that have been cleared to do so.

Red Signal Light

A red light is an absolute no-passing signal. When the red light is on, vehicles are prohibited from passing. Vehicles turning right may pass as long as they do not obstruct vehicles or pedestrians that have been cleared to do so. A red light is a mandatory stop signal. Prohibited vehicles must stop beyond the stop line, and prohibited pedestrians must wait on the sidewalk until released. While waiting to be released, vehicles must not turn off their engines or open their doors, and drivers of all types of vehicles must not leave their vehicles. Bicycles turning left are not allowed to push around the intersection, and vehicles going straight are not allowed to use right turns.

Yellow Signal Light

When the yellow light is on, vehicles that have crossed the stop line may continue to pass. The meaning of a yellow light is somewhere between a green and a red light, with both a no-passing and a permitting aspect. When the yellow light is on, it warns drivers and pedestrians that the time to cross the crosswalk has expired and the light is about to turn red. Vehicles should stop behind the stop line, and pedestrians should avoid entering the crosswalk. However, vehicles that cross the stop line because they cannot stop are allowed to continue. Pedestrians already in the crosswalk should, depending on the oncoming traffic, either cross as quickly as possible, remain where they are, or return to their original position at the traffic signal. Flashing warning lights

A continuously flashing yellow light reminds vehicles and pedestrians to look out and cross only after confirming it is safe. These lights do not control traffic flow or yield. Some are suspended above intersections, while others use only the yellow light with flashing lights when traffic signals are out of service at night to alert vehicles and pedestrians to the intersection ahead and to proceed with caution, observe, and cross safely. At intersections with flashing warning lights, vehicles and pedestrians must adhere to safety guidelines and follow traffic regulations for intersections without traffic signals or signs.

Directional Signal Light

Directional signals are specialized lights used to indicate the direction of travel for motor vehicles. Different arrows indicate whether a vehicle is going straight, turning left, or turning right. They are composed of red, yellow, and green arrow patterns.

Lane Signal Light

Lane signals consist of a green arrow and a red cross-shaped light. They are located in variable lanes and operate only within that lane. When the green arrow light is on, vehicles in the indicated lane are allowed to pass; when the red cross or arrow light is on, vehicles in the indicated lane are prohibited from passing.

Pedestrian Crossing Signal Light

Pedestrian crossing signal lights consist of red and green lights. The red light features a standing figure, while the green light features a walking figure. Pedestrian crossing lights are installed at both ends of crosswalks at important intersections with heavy pedestrian traffic. The light head faces the roadway, perpendicular to the center of the road. Pedestrian crossing lights have two signals: green and red. Their meanings are similar to those of intersection lights: when the green light is on, pedestrians are allowed to cross the crosswalk; when the red light is on, pedestrians are prohibited from entering the crosswalk. However, those already in the crosswalk may continue to cross or wait at the center line of the road.

We hope these guidelines will enhance your driving experience. Let us all obey traffic rules, travel safely, and return home safely.
