Most people are familiar with traffic instruction signs; we see them everywhere. Occasionally, we encounter situations where trucks scrape against signs, which is caused by improper height requirements for traffic instruction signs. Today, Qixiang will discuss the regulations regarding the height requirements for traffic instruction signs.
1. When there are curbs, drainage ditches, or sidewalks on the road, or where there may be parking or pedestrian traffic, the minimum height from the bottom edge of the sign to the sidewalk or shoulder is 2.1m.
2. For signs installed on the shoulder, the bottom edge should be 1.8~2.5m above the road surface. In special circumstances, such as when visibility is obstructed, this height may be increased appropriately. The outer edge of the road traffic sign should not be less than 30cm from the solid road line or the edge of the shoulder.
3. For signs installed in the median strip, the minimum height from the bottom edge to the ground is 2m.
4. The bottom edge of a sign may be 0.3 meters lower than the height of a single sign when two or more signs are mounted on the same signpost.
5. The lower edge of a roadside traffic sign on a highway must be at least two meters above the lane.
6. The lower edge of a sign must be at least one meter above the ground if it is placed on a traffic island, median, green belt, or other non-pedestrian area.
7. For traffic instruction signs installed on gantry frames, the height of the lower edge from the road surface should be determined according to the road’s clearance requirements, generally not less than 5.2m.
8. In areas with heavy snowfall, the sign height should take into account snow and ice thickness; telescopic signposts can be used to adjust the sign height.
9. When a sign is installed on a structure near the roadside, the installation height is 2-2.5m; the outer edge of the sign should be no less than 30cm from the solid roadside line or shoulder edge.
10. traffic instruction signs installed on cantilevered structures must have a lower edge that is at least 5.2 meters above the ground in compliance with the road’s specified clearance height.
It is important to keep in mind that these regulations must comply with traffic laws; otherwise, the signs will be taken down by force, which could cause collisions and injuries. Installation must be reasonable and compliant. Reputable roadway signage manufacturers with extensive installation experience will usually install signs correctly.
Our factory produces signs made with high-reflective film and thickened aluminum plates, which are sun-resistant, corrosion-resistant, and provide clear nighttime reflection, meeting national road safety standards. The supporting poles are made of high-quality steel, treated with hot-dip galvanizing and powder coating for double rust prevention, making them resistant to bending and pressure, and suitable for various scenarios such as urban main roads, highways, and industrial park roads.
Custom sizes, patterns, and thicknesses are available, and you can add flanges, reinforcing ribs, and other accessories as needed. We provide one-stop wholesale services with plenty of inventory, prompt delivery, and special pricing for large orders as a direct factory supplier.
