1. Heat Dissipation
One of the biggest technical challenges of LED traffic signal lamp lighting fixtures is heat dissipation. Poor heat dissipation makes LED driver power supplies and electrolytic capacitors bottlenecks in the further development of LED lighting fixtures, and a cause of premature aging of LED light sources. Only by quickly dissipating heat, effectively reducing the cavity temperature inside the LED light fixture, and protecting the power supply from prolonged high-temperature operation can premature aging of the LED light source be prevented. Because the LED traffic signal lamp source itself does not emit infrared or ultraviolet rays, it lacks radiative heat dissipation capabilities. The only way to dissipate heat is through a heat sink closely integrated with the LED chip board. The heat sink must have the functions of heat conduction, heat convection, and heat radiation. For any radiator, besides quickly transferring heat from the heat source to the radiator’s surface, the most important function is still to dissipate heat into the air through convection and radiation. Conductivity only addresses the path of heat transfer, while convection is the primary function of a radiator. The heat dissipation performance is mainly determined by the heat dissipation area, shape, and natural convection intensity; radiation plays only a secondary role. Generally, if the distance from the heat source to the radiator surface is less than 5mm, then as long as the material’s thermal conductivity is greater than 5, the heat can be dissipated, and other heat dissipation must be dominated by convection. Common types include die-cast aluminum radiators, extruded aluminum radiators, and stamped aluminum radiators. Die-cast aluminum radiators are a technique for pressure casting parts. Liquid zinc-copper-aluminum alloy is poured into the feed port of a die-casting machine, and then die-cast to produce a radiator of a pre-designed mold-defined shape.
2. Stable Power Supply, Avoid Overvoltage
Ensure the voltage remains stable within the rated range; overvoltage is strictly prohibited. Install surge protectors and lightning arresters, especially in areas with frequent thunderstorms. Regularly tighten the terminals on the power supply and wiring to avoid arcing and loose connections.
3. Ensure Waterproofing And Moisture Protection
Examine rubber strips and sealing rings frequently, and replace them as soon as possible if they start to deteriorate. Prevent water buildup and condensation inside the lamp; any water intrusion needs to be fixed right away. Throughout installation, keep your tilt downward to allow for drainage.
4. Standardize Wiring To Reduce Interference
To prevent signal interference that can result in flickering and malfunctions, keep high-voltage and low-voltage wiring separate. connectors that are insulated and waterproof to avoid short circuits and oxidation. Make sure your neutral and ground wires are connected securely to lessen the chance of damage from lightning strikes.
5. Regular Maintenance
The surface of the lamp cover should be cleaned frequently because dust can cause poor heat dissipation and quick light deterioration.
